    You are being ‘served’!

  2. subhorup told:

LOL. banking and finance, hospitality, aviation, retail – every segment is part of this story, Deb. I strongly believe that the bubble is yet to burst, not just in India, but globally. The cosmetic fixes to the 2008 mess have already begun to show up the cracks. 2004 created the Greek debt. Beijing wiped out our iron and steel. Another Olympics is here, lets see how well we deal with that. For all we know we will have to start paying for the telecallers too.

    • Debajyoti told:

ha ha ha, although i don’t know anything about the things you mentioned but yes we all are victims of something or other. thanks a lot for the comment :)

  3. Of course, true of all service industry. Get you into the net and then kick your butt. Customer service is a huge sham and shame in India. Do ensure to read the fine print while filling up forms. Who knows what they are asking you to sign off to themselves!

    • Debajyoti told:

there is no service, they do favors and then they come up with those ridiculous ads. i think they have taken off this birthday celebration ad.

i didn’t realize while doing this cartoon that there could be icici people going through this one :D

thanks a lot for the comment :)

      • Rachna told:

Now, don’t be so harsh, Deb! ICICI is quite bad, and I closed my account with them. I hope someone from icici is reading this :) . I thinks bank have come a long way from those days of queuing with a token number to withdraw or deposit cheques. And my banks are behaving so far.

        • Debajyoti told:

icici is bad and even i closed my account long ago. but then i had to open a new account again :D coz in my town, i guess, that’s the best option i have :D .

looking back at those token number days and those apathetic bank employees, i think we are getting better service now :)

  4. Latha told:

Now this comment is here because you are demanding for comments…:p

  5. umashankar told:

Now, is that one directed at me?! The birthday charges thing is slightly out of context but there is nothing wrong with the original idea. It could very well be your telephony-cum-broadband service provider. Your art is improving with every passing day. Why don’t you start a Bloggerman series? Who knows, someday ‘Bloggerman’ may join the league of extraordinary gentlemen like Superman, Batman, Spiderman et al

    • Debajyoti told:

do you work with icici :D ?

no, this birthday celebration ad was there and that was a ridiculous ad because their service is pathetic. but yes, I had to exaggerate a bit :D

and where are you these days?

      • umashankar told:

No, I don’t work for them and, yes, they can be very, very bad! I am with the State Bank Group. The exaggeration is fine: it is part and parcel of the art of comic strips! It brings back the memories of Popat Cahupat and Sustram Chustram (rip offs of Laurel Hardy and Beetle Bailey) from my childhood. :D

As for the last question, I was wandering the ghats of Varanasi this last week. I hope you understand why.

        • Debajyoti told:

unfortunately, i do all my transactions through this bank now :D . their MD talks about macroeconomics and all inclusive growth whereas her customers have to run from pillar to post just to update a mobile number or new address. i still love comics and if i find one lying somewhere, i have to pick it up and go through it :D

  6. C. Suresh told:

Main Samay hoon, huh?:) Great, Debajyothi:) And, yes, I am still here nagging you for part-3 of what you call your stupid series:)

  7. sahi told:

ha ha… LOL.. this wat actually happens..!!! :) :)

  8. Ironic but True!

  9. sathish told:

hell lot of things in just three slides. Brilliant.

  10. jaish_vats told:

    Hi

Soon we are gonna get calls like ‘Hi, We are calling you from XYZ bank, We heard today is your birthday and we are offering special ladoos. We waive off the special interest. Are you interested?’ ha ha

Coincidentally today is my bday and had a hearty laugh reading this one :D

  11. before i forget , I thought I shud comment ..

oh my oh my the credit card cycle .. thats why i dont use a credit card at all , its the charges that kill us the most in that ..

    Bikram’s

    • Debajyoti told:

oh, let’s not talk about credit card charges. the actual interest they charge is over 100% pa and i am not exaggerating here. stop paying your credit card bills for few months and see how it goes. of course, you don’t use credit card. so, you are one of those wise guys :)

  12. Amit Agarwal told:

    ..oh I had forgotten :(
    I’m sorry!
..but here it is now…another wonderful piece Deb :) Thanks a lot :) :D

    • Debajyoti told:

ha ha ha, i was wondering why no one is commenting on this post :D . thanks for the comment :) . i will make sure that I force everyone to comment :D

  13. neha told:

haha, this is hilarious. You have aptly put the inhuman nature of any business organization. :P

  14. d.Nambiar told:

If that’s what the banks do Deb (Grr…) this is what they get!
Yeah, seriously you should bring out a series. That would be fun.
Who cares what the title is. We like a little suspense around here.

    • Debajyoti told:

although i have exaggerated a bit, i mean, they don’t charge you for the laddu but after you make all the payments, you might not be in a position to buy even a laddu :D . hey, but this icici ad is there where they show how they celebrate customers’ birthday in the bank; a big joke.

hey thanks for the comment. i am not getting comments here. people are just voting. i thought even you are going to vote (blindly), i wouldn’t have spoken to you then :(

  15. This is true! They cheat us like anything.

  16. d.Nambiar told:

Oops! I meant — if that’s what the banks do ‘to’ Deb. The exaggeration was much needed. I haven’t seen the ad. I should look that up.
Blindly voting for you? I’d be missing out on my weekly/bi-weekly dose of humour. :)

  17. Aakash told:

    Epic :D :D

  18. NBose told:

Nice Spoof…these charges thing are kinda vicious cycle…i have worked with credit cards so know in /out of it…might be that’s why i don’t own a credit card :-)

    P.S: hopped from Indivine :-)

    • Debajyoti told:

even i know all about those charges. those are the most complex calculations i have ever come across.

thanks for the comment. i know you hopped from indivine coz you voted for me :) . and i have already finished reading your post, will comment now :)

  19. Jen told:

he he!! LOL! I’m new to your blog! so hello :)

  20. Ashwini told:

Hilarious stuff showing the bad deeds of business community. Depicts the current scenarios in most of the service industries. Came here through indiblogger. Sure to return for more.

    • Debajyoti told:

it’s actually very bad. things get worse in small towns where you need to add incompetence to that as well. thanks a lot for the comment :) . i guess i commented on one of your old posts about a guy with long hair, when i just started blogging.

  21. Deepa told:

Are you the one creating these cartoons? If so, must say brilliant! Even if you ain’t, still brilliant! And so true in today’s world!

    • Debajyoti told:

it’s a site which provides the tools to create cartoons. so yeah, i am authorized to use them without giving anyone credit :) . you will see my name on the right hand side corner of those images :D

thank you so much for the comment :)

      • Deepa told:

Man, you’re so talented! Looking forward to more!

        • Debajyoti told:

hahaha, no, i am not talented. it’s VERY simple. you will know once you visit that site. you can either create characters or choose the existing ones. change the posture, expression, select background, use some props, write few dialogues and your cartoon is ready.

  22. Another master piece from Deb..and waiting for the third part.

  23. Abhinav told:

Hahaha… lols..! That was very very funny :)

  24. mak told:

Loved that “mai samay hoon” Deb :)
    Very true

  25. That was one kind of funny yet sarcastic one! Everyone loves the bank loans ad, but no one thinks its such a pain when the time comes to return the loan. To top on that Banking policy are quite mind boggling!

    • Debajyoti told:

yes the options look quite attractive but once you opt for it you realize that it is probably not that helpful. but loans are still ok, what can really put someone in trouble are those credit cards. there is no rule, no guidelines; they can charge whatever they wish.

      thanks for the comment :)

  26. TTT told:

yeah exactly who cares what the title is !!! enjoyed the cartoon ….mein samay hoon bit was fab…

  27. Amit told:

I prefer using internet banking instead of talking to humans. It’s more peaceful that way. :)

  28. Meena told:

Nail on the head!! I have been actively involved with retail, hospitality and healthcare – each worse than the other. But pretty much on the same lines.

  29. ghazala told:

Big msg in cute cartoon, dare I forget to comment? lol

  30. What a fabulous cartoon! Complete riot. You have a fan :)

    • Debajyoti told:
