Stop watching the video…

stop watching the video

If this is called ‘getting acquainted with the harsh realities’ then I would rather shirk from these realities. Someone molested a girl, someone shot the video, and now, we are just sitting and watching it; perfect. Do you think she would approve of the fact that her video is being watched by millions of people? We are doing exactly what those animals did. Can those news channels ensure that it will be off air once those criminals are arrested? Trust me, this video is in the hands of thousands of unscrupulous people right now and will be there forever.

As far as the role of bystanders is concerned, it’s not practically possible to stop a mob and the ramifications can be severe. The decapitated body of a guy from my town was found yesterday and all he tried to do was stop few hooligans from creating nuisance in the train (no news channel would cover that), and that’s not a unique occurrence. But in this case, I assume, there were quite a few people around including those guys (who were bafflingly present there with their cameras in advance) who work in tandem with the police. At least, someone could have made an effort (although, I am not sure how anyone, especially those who are writing about it, would have responded to the situation if they were there).

I really liked the way my friends Amit, Bikram, Shezah and many others expressed concern for the girl. That’s called support and that’s exactly what she needs right now. This video going viral is not something which can help her, rather it will only make things worse. However, if someone puts a video of those guys getting shot dead, I would happily watch it because death is all they deserve. Hopefully, this girl will get justice and will have a wonderful life ahead.

Anyway, I have my doubts if this post is going to brighten up your day. Just wanted to write this because I saw too many people persuading others to watch the video for some unknown reasons. Will come up with some fun stuff soon.

  1. magiceye told:

Appreciate your concern and thoughts. You have put it in the right perspective. I too really hope that the video loses its popularity soonest.

  2. Amit told:

    Thanks for writing this Debajyoti.
People will pass this video to each other for fun. This is bound to happen. Then there would be people who would say – I should have been there. What fun!
I have known such people. They do exist.
And I know that if someone I know approaches me with this video to watch it for kicks, that will be the last time he will see me.

  3. Vineet Digga told:

Even I shared the video with my friends, though for the right purpose, but now I know it was wrong. The girl would never want the world to see that. And I really really hope, someone kills those animals and make an example out of this. It’s time now.

    • Debajyoti told:

you are young. trust me, there are many matured people out there, some of them have been talking about crime against women throughout their lives are sharing and watching this video.

  4. Amit Agarwal told:

I so completely agree..those watching the video are doing the same as those pigs did.

  5. Latha told:

Thank god, you said it. I heard about the news, then read it on Amit’s blog yesterday. I just saw an email in my inbox by a blogger and the title had the word molestation and video. That word itself send me creeps and I deleted the email without a second thought. As if it’s a movie award or an Indian winning a medal in Olympics, I don’t know what’s the pleasure in watching that video. The girl’s humiliation increases by every click on it. If you want to share her pain, damn raise your voice and do something else. And these news channels, nasty fellows…that’s why I don’t watch news these days. My husb gives me the highlights and I get news from blogs and facebook..ugh!!!

    • Debajyoti told:

this is really annoying. i have seen people writing on their blogs that people should watch that video but they didn’t write why people should watch that video. if that girl was their daughter or sister, would they have shared this video with the entire world? and strangely these people talk about women empowerment the entire day.

  6. Ash told:

That video shouldn’t have been circulated at all, imagine the trauma that poor girl must be going through…. this is just adding insult to injury.

  7. C. Suresh told:

Unusually strong post for you Debajyothi but needed saying! I, for one, have not watched the video at all – not even once nor do I intend to. You are right in saying that, perhaps, outrage is safely expressed in front of our PCs. The issue, here, however is that you could feel safe enough if you would not be the only person doing it in person there and if the police and courts were more witness-friendly! So, perhaps, this sort of expressing outrage in blogs could, hopefully, ensure that the normal citizenry could, one day, act in concert against this sort of heinous sins.

    • Debajyoti told:

i was actually writing a fun post but then i saw many people writing about how important it is to watch that video. the news itself is making me sick, so, i can image how horrifying that video will be.

it was not like that few decades ago, especially in smaller towns. people were united and raised their voice whenever there was any irregularity. but this gradual isolation is triggering the fear of being vulnerable.

  8. Bikram told:

Thank you deb. We have this mentality it seems, to actually enjoy other person’s problem. So many stood there and enjoyed the show, and now the video..

I don’t mind the video if the girl was nit shown, she has been publicly humiliated while many watched and now she is being humiliated on web, how is she going to get out of her house without being recognized.

People will then say pointing finger she is the one in the video.. how disgraceful..

I would love to watch the guys caught, beaten, tortured, raped… But shot dead noooooo too easy.. let them suffer..
As I said in my post more than that its those who watched and did nothing they are bigger culprits.

    • Debajyoti told:

this video will always be there on internet and she will find it even after 20 – 30 years from now. she might be surfing internet with her kids.

if police needs that video give it to them. why would the entire world need that? and the role of that news channel is also suspicious.

people could have done something if they wanted.

i want those criminals to get a punishment which will set an example but i know it’s not going to happen.

      • Exactly .. But does any one give a damn NO, the media who put the video on their did it , but I would like to question all those who uploaded it to you tube what was there Thought behind it .. I DOUBT their thought ..

        Bikram’s

        • Debajyoti told:

there are enough people like them around us who would enjoy watching that video.

they have put the posters of those guys everywhere and that’s a good thing. as long as that girls video and pictures are not there, i am happy with it. there are protests going on in assam but i guess the damage is already done.

  9. amazingly the every state of Assam lost crores worth of property, lakhs of houses, sadly over 200 lives(humans) but none of the media guys, youtube fellas thought that this natural calmity even merits a mention ..as they were busy shooting the predicament of an innocent..

    • Debajyoti told:

we have some of the worst criminals sitting there in the newsrooms. they can stoop to any level to get sensational news and they do it because we watch.

  10. jaish_vats told:

    Hi Deb

I have read continuous posts about it and never felt like watching the video.

How does it help the girl in anyway if millions of us in different corners of the world say ‘Oh My God’ after watching it and then discussing at length with those around us?

‘it’s not practically possible to stop a mob and the ramifications can be severe’ Thats only if one sole person tries it. When the number of bystanders can easily outnumber the hooligans why not do so? Crime in broad daylight would be a piece of cake with this nature amongst the public.

When you are speaking so much of sense, its good to write one or two serious stuff like this amidst your fun posts! Glad that you did .

    • Debajyoti told:

every time i read or hear about an incident it gets etched in my memory forever. i have forgotten many things but i can never forget these disturbing news. so, the question of watching this video doesn’t arise at all. and i seriously don’t know what pleasure people derive from watching these videos. it’s a psychiatric disorder and i was searching for the term, couldn’t find it.

yes, they could have done something although i seriously doubt the role of that news channel and cops. if people keep quiet and watch such things happen then the entire world will become a criminals’ paradise one day.

i was writing a fun post but really got annoyed with so many people insisting others to watch the video. i usually take more than one week to write a humor post but i wrote this in half an hour. there could be many errors but writing a good post was not the objective. i don’t think i will write such posts again in future.

      • jaishvats told:

        Hi Deb

I understand that this post was more of an emotional outburst from you. But it was a straight-from-the-heart post and hence very effective. And believe me I could not spot any errors as such.

        • Debajyoti told:

i had my humor post almost ready but didn’t feel like publishing it. thanks a lot. hey, i saw your new post. will read it tonight or tomorrow morning. haven’t slept last night, so, if i read it now, i might not understand anything.

  11. meoww told:

People have to think for themselves, before jumping in with the crowd. Like your strong words on the issue. I support it completely!

  12. When reading news I got link of the video and watched it for a while.. I had to throw up and could not go beyond certain point..
Good point there you have brought forth but most of the people who made it viral may have been those casually looking at news like me without actually knowing what it was all about.
I am glad you have made a powerful point there..

    • Debajyoti told:

we do watch these videos without knowing what it’s all about. i am sure, even i would have thrown up if i had watched it. i wanted to avoid this news but couldn’t. we are shocked and cannot believe that humanity can sink this low.

  13. Great to see this post from you, Deb. These crimes propagate because the closet animal within us is continuously seeking to feed off such sensationalism. The media does not help, since journalism is no longer about making the world a better place, but about raising TRP ratings. What the world needs is life-affirming wholesome food for the mind and the spirit. (Like the posts you write!)

    • Debajyoti told:

journalists are probably the worst group of people we have in our society now. but the main problem is that we condone unacceptable behavior of people around us day in day out, and eventually we create these beasts.

  14. Swarnali told:

Thank you so very much for this post, Deb!! I have been feeling exactly the same for the entire time. I feel so sad for that girl who is reminded about the situation by everyone around her and that video which has spread faster than wildfire will never help her get over the incident. The whole incident is extremely disgusting and the criminals should get the worst of punishments. The media should have really been a bit for sensitive about the issue before releasing the video and telecasting it everywhere over and over.

    • Debajyoti told:

exactly, do you think she would have liked the fact that people were standing there and taking her video? people have to be really sick to do that.

      • Swarnali told:

The shooting of the video was for to help the police catch the criminals. It is because of the video that we can see the faces of such horrendous people and be ware of them. But the way the video was shared everywhere and talked about, that was really in very bad taste.

        • Debajyoti told:

were those thousands of people shooting the video wanted to help the police. and if the news channels wanted to help the police then why was that video aired?

          • Swarnali told:

The original one which went viral was shot by a reporter and this is the reason he gave. Anyhow, the whole situation has turned very distasteful.

            • Debajyoti told:

exactly, this is something which we will never be able to forget and i can imagine what this girl is going through. just hope that some justice is done. we can only wait and watch.

  15. Shreya told:

Death wouldn’t do them justice Deb, humiliation and castration, perhaps?

I really don’t want to say anything about this. It’s shameful. It’s angering. It’s gone beyond all limits.

And yes, your post reminded me of the DPS MMS… People’s reactions went from shocked to ‘these kids need therapy’….but everyone watched for their own perverse pleasures.

    It’s sickening.

    • Debajyoti told:

      no punishment is enough.

it’s frightening to see human being in this form.

we have these people around us in large numbers who would condemn the act and watch the video again and again.

    • aparna told:

how i agree with you shreya… death is not punishment enough…

      • Debajyoti told:

even i agree with Shreya but i know the reality. they will get away with minimum punishment. moreover, it’s a bailable offense.

but i appreciate the way this case is progressing. most of them have been arrested including the television journalist. and police is searching for the rest exactly how they search for terrorists. there is some reward for giving information about the prime accused, his location is traced with gprs. let’s hope someone kills them before they are produced in the court.

  16. Ruchi told:

I agree with Shreya here. Such videos should be blocked by the cyber police. Ironically, same networks air shows like ‘Satyamev Jayate’ – talk about hypocrisy.

  17. Rachna told:

These videos end up becoming perverse pleasure for some and end up insulting the victim more. It is sickening how these acts are shown repeatedly by news channels — really sick journalism.

    • Debajyoti told:

it indeed is sick and those who are watching this video are sick as well. the reason why i wrote this post was because i saw some senior so called ‘crime against women’ bloggers insisting others to watch it; disgusting.

      • Rachna told:

The sickest part is that the journalist who filmed the act actually orchestrated the act. I have also read that a few people did try to help but were beaten to pulp. That would of course not get coverage. Sometimes, a little knowledge is a damn dangerous thing.

        • Rachna told:

And, I haven’t seen the video!

          • Debajyoti told:

that’s what some of those groups are claiming and it looks like that.

little knowledge is indeed very dangerous. you will see some of our bloggers who are no less than those molesters and news channels. they need something to happen everyday, so that they can write their ‘other social cause’ posts. and these people are probably the biggest hypocrites i have seen. they point their finger at others saying ‘people only talk and don’t do anything’ and all these morons do is talk. and there are few who consider them god.

i seriously doubt how many of these people would have tried to help that girl if they were there.

            • Rachna told:

I know exactly the kind of blogs that you are talking about. I visit one of this kind sometimes, and the kind of vitriol that it churns out on a regular basis is mindblowing. If I leave a comment, there are many crazed followers ready to pounce on me with their convoluted logic. They are mentally imbalanced and thrive in sensationalism. Oh, and this one is a damn popular blog!

              • Debajyoti told:

exactly and because their logic is convoluted and their objective is dubious, there is no point in talking to them. i seriously wonder how many genuine people we have around us. those who run behind Anna Hazare to end corruption including auto rickshaw union and police, or those who are talking about this incident now after watching the video for their own perverse pleasures.

i wanted some people to read this post but unfortunately the notification didn’t go out

  18. umashankar told:

For once, the die hard humourist is sad. Deb, I am glad you took it up. Enough has been done already, enough shot and enough being seen. I am sure there are enough cowards among us but enough men have lost their lives trying to protect girls and women from wolves. Need I remind the world how the newphew of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the then Prime Minister, was thrown out of a speeding train to his gory death, trying to stop a similar incident. What is the message I sm trying to send then except that, can we have some sanity please?

    • Debajyoti told:

that boy from my town who was killed yesterday somewhere in Bihar was a son of a politician. bihar police assured his dad that nothing will happen and they will find him in no time.

if anyone tried to stop those goons in Guwahati alone would have suffered the same fate. they were more than 50 people.

  19. TTT told:

you are absolutely right . Right now the girl need all the support she can and instead by circulating the video we are just making things difficult for her. Since the incident the most freq ques that I have been asked is “have you seen the video”

I just hope and pray that the girl is able to push aside this incident and have a wonderful like ahead.

I just hope those hooligans are punished .

  20. Varsh told:

I fiercely back the reply you gave to Rachna’s comment. Urging people to watch it??? What were these people thinking? I was reminded of the scene in Dev.D where Kalki gets upset with her father for seeing her clip.
Honestly, it is a little difficult to decide what stand these people have. I didn’t have the nerve to watch the video. I’m a woman and I guess no woman in her right mind would try to derive any kind of pleasure from it. If I could do something, I’d tell the girl to carry a knife with her every time for her safety. She’s a minor for God’s sake!!
And yes, the boy you told us about wouldn’t get reported. It is not sensational news right? A girl getting molested grabs quite a few pervert eyeballs. :(

    • Debajyoti told:

seriously, i don’t know what kind of mentality these people have. it’s only because they don’t know this girl, they are sitting and watching this video and may be deriving some sadistic pleasure out of it.

yes, she is just a kiddo.

correct, “a girl getting molested grabs quite a few pervert eyeballs.” nicely said.

  21. Pattu told:

Well said Debajyoti. I share your anger and bewilderment. Why should anyone air the video at
all? What is the responsibility of the Visual media here? How degrading the society is!
It is very sad that the animal and criminal instincts are given a free show.

Hope more people are coming out to voice their concerns against this “show-business”

Right now Arnab Goswamy is going on about something. Hope he pays attention to this blatant mis-use of media.

  22. d.Nambiar told:

I happened to catch the news but I don’t think I’ve seen the video. I’m not even going to look for it, especially after that image you put up here — so disgusting, right? She’s not blurred in it?

  23. Well, highly appreciate your thought. I condemn them all, those share and like these kinds of video’s on social networking site and promote more criminal activities accidentally.
Few days ago girl was molested and accused on road at Guwahati and this video is available on every news website, social networking sites and video also flashed daily on news channels frequently daily.

I also condemn those media channel. Seriously there should be a strict law for such media exposures.

    • Debajyoti told:

we don’t know who all are involved in this case but it sounds like a well-coordinated attack. i doubt the role of that news channel and cops.

and i seriously don’t understand what exactly people who want to see in this video.

  24. afshan told:

Rightly said Deb ! I am lot disturbed from couple of days. At my home every one was espclly coz they shot it . Rather than stopping all they could do was shoot.

Like u told if they release a video showing their death I will make it famous and spread as much as possible

I just hope girl recovers from trauma and those culprits are punished not 500/- fine or 5months jail but a death sentence- hate the law and order here :(

    • Debajyoti told:

many people around us have animal instincts but they don’t cross the limit because of fear. but when they know people won’t react they don’t have that fear anymore. it’s better to stop things when we have the first signs. stopping a mob of 50 people won’t be easy, especially when the entire thing was a set up and everyone was involved. now we are getting the news that few people tried to stop them but were badly beaten up.

standing there and shooting the video is the worst thing someone can do. however, i seriously doubt how many people would have tried to do anything if they were present there. sitting at home and talking is easy and that’s all we are capable of doing. i consider my town safe for everyone because people are united but things are changing very fast and i am not sure how long we will be able to say it’s a crime free town.

      • afshan told:

i kno it all looks like some planned and xclusive kind of news but no one from onlookers is a human that troubled me !

anyway am just feelng shamefl , selfless and hopeless……No city or town is safe and i keep pondering before going out

        • Debajyoti told:

it was planned and one of those journalists was arrested today. and i doubt the role of cops as well.

it was just sick and you are right, no city or town is safe.

  25. Deb. U got it absolutely right. Hope at least a few sick Voyeuristic pleasure mongers read this post!

  26. I see reason and concern in what you say. Believe me I have not watched the clip even once! I did learn about it and read about the ghastly incident in the News Papers.

    • Debajyoti told:

i was actually not aware of the incident although it happened in my state. i learnt from other blogs that i follow. i was going through the newspapers today only to see if those culprits were arrested or not but some of the sites have put those ghastly images there. good thing is that, the protest which is going on in Guwahati is quit fierce (although, some of the political parties blaming each other for the incident as usual) and almost all those criminals are arrested including the news channel guys who were involved in this incident.

  27. afshan told:

ya I know.. Read in the news.. I just hope the punishment wont be some thng silly and can u please delete my first comment.. I typed wrong words by mistake in it!

  28. That video and I could barely get through 30 seconds of it sent shivers down my spine. One man putting his hands where you don’t want them can leave scars for life. 11 men doing that on a crowded street and no one stepping in, I’m not going to be surprised if that child loses her mind. All the news channels that are covering this news in the spirit of samaj seva, all these reporters need to take a step back and think if they’d behave the same way if one of their family members had been involved. Assault na hua tamasha ho gaya. Death penalty, all molesters should be hanged until death. Send a message out, a strong one at that. It’s the only way I think I will be convinced my daughter will be safe when she goes out, no matter how she’s dressed.

    • Debajyoti told:

one news channel guy was arrested today for instigating those goons and probably they set up the entire thing, otherwise how can they be present with their cameras beforehand? and where were the cops? Guwahati is not a big city and there is police petrol the entire day because of terrorists. i hate politicians and police, but i guess these journalists are worse than these people.

i shouldn’t have written this post. not able to get this off my mind.

      • Nice, doomsday has finally arrived. We have finally stooped low enough to instigate acts of violence to up TRP’s. Let’s start by hanging the news guy, then. I can’t think of a more fitting punishment.

        • Debajyoti told:

this news channel is run by a lady who is the wife of a congress minister. scared to check any of these sites because most of the sites have put those ghastly images of the incident.

  29. rajni sinha told:

A very sensitive blog—–the thoughts expressed touch the heart and show the respect you have for women and for humanity

  30. I really appreciate your post and concern. You pointed out some really ugly truths about today’s society. Really hope that those bastards get death penalty at the least and the girl may start a new life.

    • Debajyoti told:

even i want them to get death penalty. don’t know how it’s possible but that’s the only punishment they deserve. and if the charges against that news channel are proved then i guess, they deserve that death penalty before anyone else.

  31. Rahul told:

If it is in the news it is rarely a good subject! All bad stuff sells and makes more news! Very sad that the voyeuristic pleasure of millions at the cost of a a hapless teenage girl:( Let us see who gets punished!

    • Debajyoti told:

in this case, we cannot do anything. so, at least we shouldn’t further humiliate this girl by watching the video.

this news channel set up the entire thing. they should be punished first. i am happy with the way Assam government is acting. they have announced some reward for giving information about the main culprit and they are tracking his mobile location. i hope the punishment is also severe but going by the law, it looks improbable.

  32. aparna told:

i hve been feeling sick everytime they mention this news. and no i wont watch the video. not because it will make me sick, but because there is no reason why. The police needed proof. there it is… and now all the courts need to do is issue fast punishment. I am sick of what people are saying about it too.
how the girl was in a pub… how women instigate rape by wearing short clothes, how the men are enticed into all this. Sick sick sick… i wish i could set up a court myself and get these buggers to justice… just point and shoot the balls out of such men.
And then i read posts from guys like you, listen to the outrage from my male friends, and see how you guys are reacting and think that there is still some hope left in the human race… otherwise it would have been wonderful if the world did end a few months from now.

    It was a good read…

    • Debajyoti told:

even i am feeling sick and not able to complete the humor post which i was writing and i know i won’t be able to do that soon.

those who talk about girls instigating rape are the ones who create these criminals. as a matter of fact, those criminals are one of them.

let’s hope some justice is done and hope that we don’t have to hear such news in future.

  33. aparna told:

humour is needed in times such as these, as everything else around is failing miserably. i wish things were different but they are not. I just write something on the same after a long time of saying i dont want to. it just made me so sick that i had to write something. anyway… i hope we do hear the news in future, because in india a lot of such incidents (like yours) are covered and put away. and we are in a happy illusion that everything is hunky dory… and i for one am sick of the sweetness where a regressive movie like cocktail does well. where people like these men are still roaming around… and making excuses for their heinous acts… even animals have more control than such b******S

    • Debajyoti told:

we have these animals around us. in our locality, in office, in blogsphere everywhere. these criminals cannot commit such a heinous crime unless we encourage them to do so. everyday we ignore those objectionable statements, we condone filthy thought process, and eventually we create these criminals who cross all the limits.

  34. Aesha told:

How refreshing it is to not read misogynistic comments on this blog! Great post. Thank you for writing this

    • Debajyoti told:

well, i am lucky to have such blogger friends.

my blog is a humor blog and i don’t write such posts. just got annoyed with people circulating the video and trying to justify the importance of watching it. wanted to convey the message to as many people as possible. it’s an appeal to all those who are watching and circulating it without realizing how much damage it can cause to that girl’s psyche. we cannot stop those perverts though.

  35. Shrunkhala told:

I actually started thinking that India still has got people with some respect for their nation, it’s people and also themselves when I read the 13th July news that said “A model was attacked for wearing Indian flag as her bikini”. And just 3 days later this news created in me ignominy, a complete disgrace to all those, who not only did this but are also enjoying watching someone do it. And after reading your blog I was comforted a bit with the thought that, yes there are people who are against this ‘visual crime’. I really appreciate you putting forth your effort in writing this and telling “the peolple” that what they are doing is, wrong. I thank you, not as a person, but as a girl, a women.

    • Debajyoti told:

this has gone beyond all limits and i have nothing to say. we have people with sick mentality everywhere including this blogsphere and i can see them around. first of all she doesn’t want that video to be watched, secondly only people with the mentality of a criminal can sit and watch that video, and finally why would someone watch that? how that’s going to help anyone?

read that 13th july incident now after reading your comment. i don’t think i liked the fact that she was attached and injured.

  36. A superb post Debjyoti! I could not have voiced my disgust in a better fashion even if I wanted to.

I have been wanting to post about this on my blog too. But I feel so ashamed….I have so many American readers, and readers from around the world. And to think they will take away a reinforcement of their view that my beautiful India is a terrible country has kept me from posting it. I feel sad, disheartened.

But your post has restored the faith to a large extent. I am so glad to have met you.

even i never wanted to write about this incident, mine is a humor blog. i was even avoiding this news but felt disgusting when i saw how people are sharing and circulating this video, and after writing this post, i am feeling worse because i am not able to get this thing off my mind. i haven’t put any tags on this post nor i have submitted this post on stumbleupon from where i usually get decent number of traffic because i just wanted to convey this message to some of the bloggers on indiblogger and other people around.

I saw the faces of the beasts who did the deed on news but being so ill, I didn’t watch it further. The video is sick in the extreme and as for the media, the less said the better. They are not only creating communal tensions, but also political chaos and now pandering to perverts. Is there no ‘watchdog committee’ to monitor these pervert morons? Every word was a whiplash and was dripping with rage. Winced more than once while reading it, Deb. I can understand how you feel about not being able to pen a humour piece.

    • Debajyoti told:

i didn’t watch the video because i wouldn’t be able to watch it, secondly every single click on the link would humiliate that girl even more and also there is no reason for me to watch it. unfortunately, people have put those ghastly images on their posts which i had a glimpse of while surfing some of the blogs and also saw people urging others to watch the video which i felt was wrong. when that girl doesn’t want her video to be watched, how can we say ‘no, we will watch your video.’ isn’t this a crime as well?

i was avoiding this news and was writing my usual posts but now i don’t think i will ever be able to get the images of those criminals off my mind.

and those news channel guys? they are the worst creatures we have in our society. thankfully, that journalist’s anticipatory bail has been rejected.

This post did lighten up my mind Deb. I am proud of your mind and those others you have mentioned who have written their mind supporting her. I would happily join you in watching a video of those animals bleeding to death, though it makes me sound like a cannibal. But I think cannibals are way better than these filths (I have to find a new word for them). I agree… it is the people who stand there together and watch are the ones who are feeding the egos of those who do such heinous acts. They are providing them an audience and a shameful one. And as you have rightly said, one or two noble souls who go out there to try and save humanity are rewarded with death. It burns my heart.

    • Debajyoti told:

even i couldn’t find an appropriate word for those creatures. no dictionary has come up with a word that best describes animals of this form. all i want is death for them. usually i don’t read newspaper but for past few days i have been checking the headlines only to see if anything is happening. unfortunately, this story is almost out of all the newspapers including the local ones. and that’s what happens when we move on too fast. these guys will get away with light punishment because we stopped raising our voices.

Well said … I echo your concerns..The video going viral and people frantically searching for it on youtube , just shows the dormant side of our charaters..Somewhere down the line , we are curious to see it too..Maybe search for the unedited/uncensored video if thats anywhere to be found..And What good would that do the girl..Poor kid..Her ordeal is a national mockery now..Sad but true..

  40. Debajyoti told:

    thank you for the comment.

Watching that video on some news channel for the first time had angered me very much ! How can they just stand there & shoot the whole incident without even making the effort to save that girl ? They just want some ‘masala’ for their news channel ! They too should be punished !
& in my opinion, death would be an easy punishment for that mob. I can think of more severe punishment than that for them.
There should be punishments like Islamic countries for such crimes ; then no one would even think of doing any such thing !

    • Debajyoti told:

those news channel guys orchestrated the entire thing. the journalist who was arrested is a close friend of that main accused. but as i said the case is becoming really weak. assam govt has other things to worry about now. i usually don’t read newspaper but after that incident, i am checking the headlines everyday to see if there is any progress. and what i learned is that those criminals are getting VIP treatment in the lockup and police is forcing the girl to change her statement. what statement? the entire country watched it. when i read about such incidents, it angers me but i feel so helpless. we have such people around us, everywhere.

      • V.Khawani told:

I saw that on some news channel that the whole incident was orchestrated by a local news channel guys, still how can someone be so insensitive !!
Regarding criminals getting VIP treatment; it is happening all over our country. Our main problem is corruption. Some ministers, some officers sell themselves & these things happen ! Common people like us can’t do anything except watch the whole drama !!
        God save our country !

Yeah, Girl’s safety is our responsibility. And, the government can do but will not do anything till we become enough serious about this issue.
