Bored

In the shadow of dusk,
I sharpen my tusk.
I don my predatory mask,
Call me evil, call me nefarious.

I hum, I hum,
I drink human rum.
You call me your chum
and I will strike with venom.

I can see that crimson flow,
hide in a palace or a ghetto.
Fear me, I am your foe!
I am the queen, I am the mosquito.

(Posting this to clarify that the previous one was not about mosquitoes :D . Thanks to Umashankar for helping me with this post. By the way, do you think it’s time for me to shut down this blog now because I am not able to write anything :D ?)

  1. umashankar told:

The rapiers of words pierce not unlike the tusks sharpened at dusks. The jarring diction matches the subject perfectly as the venom is spread in ghettos and palaces alike.

Kill your blog? Bad command or filename.

  2. Mak told:

    Hahaaha…Very good Debajyoti.
‘i drink human rum’ …liked it.

  3. sm told:

Hu says ur blog bores people? This was a hilarious one indeed :-) wanna see more such posts by u.

  5. d.Nambiar told:

Shut down this blog? We shall not hear of it. :)

This poem is good. Clap, clap, clap, clap. It makes more sense than previous one and it’s something we can all relate to. Evil indeed… I know how much of my B+ rum these foes of mine have enjoyed.

    • d.Nambiar told:

Do you really need the second ‘the’ in the first line? I think it would sound better without it.

      • Debajyoti told:

i guess u r right. deleting that extra the. actually i wanted to make some more changes but who is going to read anyway :D

        • d.Nambiar told:

Who’s going to read anyway? You were wrong again. Look at the number of votes and comments that have come your way. I hope you given up the thought of shutting down this blog. Now that there’s a cool site and all, blog away, blog away… you have a long way to go.

          • Debajyoti told:

votes r less because my new blog doesn’t have an indirank :( . i m not going to shut down my blog coz i have nothing to do now. and as long as i have visitors like u who would appreciate even a mosquito poem, i m going to continue :D

check out this comment reply plug in which i installed. it will mail u the comment reply even if u don’t want :D

    • Debajyoti told:

:D i know and they r still enjoying my B+ blood. if u really want to see mosquitoes u need to come down to my home town. may be i ll take a pic of these mosquitoes and post it on my blog one day for ppl to see.

      • d.Nambiar told:

I look forward to the picture of mosquitoes and many many more of your poems.

        • Debajyoti told:

replying back to ur second comment primarily because i want to increase the comment count and also to double check the reply plug in :D

mosquito picture, definitely, i ll put that soon. and i m going to write many many poems now coz it’s simple. get few words which rhyme and put them somewhere, that’s it. hardly takes 15 minutes :D

Now, this one I like, I understood it and it was funny. Also, since I got eaten alive by the creatures you’ve paid homage to, this is all very relevant to me. Good going. This one leads me to believe, you may be able to make a livelihood by writing, now.

    • Debajyoti told:
